We currently stock Paxlovid, an oral antiviral drug from Pfizer which is a combination of two antiviral drugs called nirmatrelvir and ritonavir. This treatment option will need to be started within five days of onset of symptoms, so quick access to the medication can be key for those at high risk for disease progression. Cancer, chronic kidney disease, high cholesterol, depression, smoking-related lung disease, dementia, diabetes and obesity, are all factors that can increase your risk for severe disease.
If you have tested positive for COVID-19 and have one or more of the high risk factors, our providers will review your history and your current medications for any possible drug-to-drug interactions. This will help them determine whether the benefits of the drug outweigh the risks. Patients taking Paxlovid may experience minor side effects such as diarrhea and muscle aches, but these are temporary.
